Kitchen Cabinet Painting in Tallahassee, FL
Update your kitchen or bath cabinets without a remodel: deep clean, sand, prime and a durable finish.
If your cabinet boxes are solid but the color is dated, painting can change the whole kitchen. The difference between a finish that chips and one that holds up is almost entirely prep. Canopy Painting degreases, sands, primes and finishes cabinets, and we list the products and method in your written estimate.
Is painting right for your cabinets?
| Option | Good fit when... |
|---|---|
| Paint / refinish | Boxes and doors are sound and you want a new color or finish. |
| Refacing or new doors | Layout is fine but door style is dated. We'll tell you if this makes more sense than paint. |
| Replace | Boxes are damaged or swollen, or you're changing the layout. |
We'll tell you honestly if your cabinets are good candidates. Water-damaged particleboard usually isn't.
Our cabinet process
- Assess and plan. Count doors and drawers, check condition, choose color and sheen.
- Remove and label. Doors, drawers and hardware come off and are labeled.
- Degrease and clean. Kitchen cabinets collect grease; coatings won't bond without removing it.
- Sand and repair. Dull the old finish; fill dents and holes.
- Prime. Bonding, stain-blocking primer.
- Finish. Multiple coats with light sanding between coats.
- Cure and reinstall. Coatings need time to cure; we explain care instructions from the product data sheet.
Colors and finishes
Whites and warm neutrals are popular, but any color works. Ask about color samples so you can see them in your kitchen's light.

Cabinet painting questions
How long will my kitchen be disrupted? It depends on the number of doors and drawers and the products, and we'll go over the schedule with your written estimate. Will the finish chip? Any painted surface can chip from impact. Proper prep and good cabinet coatings reduce it. Can you paint stained wood cabinets? Yes. Some woods, like oak, show grain through paint unless filled; we'll show options. Do you paint walls and trim too? Yes: interior painting.
