How much does painting cost in Tallahassee?

It depends on the size and condition of the property, the amount of prep and repair, the surfaces, and the products. We don't quote exteriors by phone. We look at the job and give you a free written estimate with line items. See how our estimates work.

Do you offer free estimates?

Yes. Call (727) 470-7718 or use the estimate form. Photos help us understand the job.

What's in the estimate?

The areas to be painted, prep and repairs, products and sheen, and the number of coats. We spell out the details in your written estimate.

Do you pressure wash before painting?

For exteriors, cleaning is part of prep because paint doesn't bond well to dirt, chalk or mildew. We choose the method for the surface. See pressure washing & prep.

Will you repair cracks, drywall or rotted trim?

Paint-prep repairs are part of the job. If something is structural or outside our scope, we'll tell you who to call.

How many coats will I need?

Usually primer where needed plus two finish coats. A major color change or a repaired area may need more. It's in your estimate.

Can you paint my kitchen cabinets?

Yes. See cabinet painting.

When is the best time to paint outside in Tallahassee?

Summer is the wettest season: June, July and August each average roughly 7 to 8 inches of rain. October, November and May are the driest months in the 1991-2020 normals (about 3.1 to 3.4 inches). (Source: Florida Climate Center, climatecenter.fsu.edu.) Paint labels also set temperature and dry-time limits, which we follow.

Does humidity affect painting?

Yes. High humidity and rain slow drying and can trap moisture, so we schedule around forecasts and follow product instructions.

Can you paint during hurricane season?

The Atlantic hurricane season runs June 1 to November 30 (National Hurricane Center). We watch the forecast and plan exterior work around severe weather.

Do I need HOA approval before repainting?

Often. Killearn Homes Association, for example, requires Architectural Control Committee approval for exterior painting, with color samples, a description of the areas and colors, and a photo of the project area; written approval must come before work starts (source: killearn.org). Check your own association's rules. See HOA painting.
